So your computer is not really working up to your expectations. Maybe its running slow or you can’t load the latest and greatest software. So do you go ahead and get your computer repaired, upgraded or is it time to look at getting a new computer.

There are a couple of things you want to think about:

1. How old is your computer? Computers today have shorter and shorter life expectancies. If your computer is older than 6 years old it may be time to consider buying a new one instead of trying to fix it.

2. What do you need your computer to do? If all you ever do is check emails and surf the net occasionally than buying the latest and greatest may not be in your best interest financially. However if your needs have become more advanced you may need to look at options that meet these new needs.

3. What is your budget for computer repairs? Underst and how much money you are willing to spend over the next 6 to 12 months for computer repairs vs what the cost of a new computer.

Ultimately the decision to fix your computer or purchase a new computer is up to you. If you aren’t sure what to do than don’t hesitate to ask someone you trust.

To help maintain the life of your current system make sure you have a good anti virus program installed and running. Microsoft Security Essentials is a good free program.

Have a good back up system in place because eventually you will get a new computer and you will want to be able to transfer your data to the new computer quickly and easily.
